To sum it up, it comes down to common sense and a sense of decency. However, just to be on the safe side there is a list of rules. They are not overly strict but THEY ARE ENFORCEABLE. So keep that in mind.
Be a positive contributor – Submissions may be removed or a user banned at the moderators’ discretion if deemed to be detrimental to the community. This is a general guideline that can encompass all other rules.
No flamebait, personal attacks, or harassment –
— Flamebait is any post that is designed to get negative reactions from a particular user or fanbase. You might also call this “trolling”.
— Personal attacks – If you’re having to resort to name calling to prove your point, you’re doing it wrong.
— Harassment can take many forms, from post-stalking to unwanted private messages; it will also result in a very quick ban.
— Friendly ribbing and trash talk is part of sports fandom, and is fine. This can be a narrow line sometimes, so if you’re not sure, tread carefully.
No racism, homophobia, sexism, rape jokes, or other bigotry – We want RufWriters to be a friendly place for everyone. Even if you’re joking, you never know when someone might misunderstand. This also applies to overly sexually- or racially-charged comments that may make groups of people feel uncomfortable or unwelcome. It also applies to jokes about sexual assault and rape, as well as mental and developmental disorders.
No personal info – You may not post any personal information. That means: no names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, or anything else that might identify someone, including yourself. This applies whether or not you have permission from the person. Since most all Twitter accounts are public, there is no restriction for sharing tweets.
Posts To Avoid
Note: You may not receive a notification or warning if your thread is removed. If your thread is removed and you want to know why, ask a mod for clarification. We are pretty friendly people, don’t be afraid to ask. You may receive a ban repeated offenses.
Reposts – Make a good-faith effort to check whether or not what you’re posting has already been posted.
Anything not topically-related – Direct posts that aren’t college related to the topic or thread.
Politics…best to avoid them.
NSFW content – Absolutely no pornographic images, videos, links. Unless it is absolutely 100%, directly topically related (such as a quote or image/video of an injury) do not post it. Again, common sense here.
Fundraiser links – Don’t post direct links to fundraising sites without discussing the fundraiser with the mods first. For the most part, this is just so we know there is a fundraising effort going on the site, ya know?
Word-for-word pasting of paywall content – To avoid copyright issues, comments that are word-for-word copies of paywalled content (including, but not limited to, sites like ESPN Insider, SoonerScoop, Scout) will be removed. Do not publish other site’s paid content.
