A big month for the Sooners just keeps getting bigger. Just announced, 2019 4-star QB, Spencer Rattler has committed to Oklahoma on his unofficial visit. This is a big get for Lincoln Riley, who now has two blue-chip prospects to build his 2019 class around:

Spencer Rattler ranks 3rd at his position (Pro-Style QB) and 59th overall. He becomes Oklahoma’s second commitment in their 2019 class. The Sooners move up to 10th nationally and remain first in the Big 12 per 247Sports.
Not going to get too in-depth here as Rattler is just heading into his junior year and there is a lot he’s still learning. That said, at first glance you can see some stark comparisons to Baker Mayfield. The escapability, elusiveness, and poise of Rattler is why he is so highly sought after. He does a great job of buying time with his feet, but it’s the awareness and football knowledge that impresses most. There are plenty of QB’s that can escape the pocket, but they either too eager to run or hang around too long. Rattler has a nice feel for when to wait and when to get out. You don’t see that type of awareness at his age too often.
Can’t say much as to the physical abilities of Rattler yet, but the arm strength is apparent. There’s a few 45+ yard throws in there that really smooth and on time. Expect this to only get better as Rattler develops.
Overall this get by Lincoln Riley cannot be understated. The 2019 class started out hot with commitment from 5-star receivers Theo Wease Jr. and Arjei Henderson, but dissipated quickly when rumors of Riley leaving after the season started going around. With Riley now at head coach and having one of 2019’s best QB’s committed, momentum should start returning for the Sooners.
