If you’ve been listening to the podcasts, you’ve been hearing about new features coming to the site for a little while now. Well, today we’re unveiling two of the projects we’ve been working on behind the scenes.

Since starting the site last summer, many of you have asked about or requested the addition of forums. Today we’re happy to announce that forums have officially been added to the site. You will see the “Forums” tab added to the main menu at the top of each page.

To keep topics organized, eight sections have been built:

  • “The Boom Town” – Everything Oklahoma football
  • “CFB” – For college football talk outside of Norman
  • “Recruiting” – CFB, CBB recruiting talk. Sub-sections have been added for individual player discussion & news.
  • “College Shooty Hoop” – Talking college basketball
  • “NFL – News & Fantasy” – Talking NFL & fantasy football
  • “NBA – News & Fantasy” – Talking OKC Thunder, NBA & fantasy basketball
  • “Other Sports” – Talking baseball, hockey, etc…
  • “Other” – general topic discussion. Sub-sections have been added for TV & Movies

Sections may be added or redacted to better accommodate the community in the future, but this will be the initial setup.

Once logged in (login sections can be found on the left side bar if you’re on a computer & at the bottom of the page if you’re on mobile), you will see your profile button at the top left of your screen.

It will open up a menu where you can customize your profile, see notifications, and check private messages.

Using the forums is simple. You will have the ability to reply to or quote or like other users posts. The forums are equipped to auto embed pictures, tweets, and videos — all you need to do is copy and paste the URL into your post.

You can start using the forums now. Simply go to the “Forums” tab and go click “Join Community” or click here to set up your profile.

Recruiting Prediction Pages

It is no secret that recruiting has become a hot topic for college football fans. Unlike the game of football, recruiting is around-the-clock news and we’ve been brainstorming ways to better supplement the occasional recruiting update posts. One way is with forums, where we can quickly update the small topics that don’t warrant a big post. The other is with a concept we’re calling the recruiting prediction pages.

Using pie charts, we can provide a visual representation of our confidence level in what prospects the Sooners will land at each position. To put it simply, if we believe Oklahoma has a good chance of landing “Prospect A”, he’ll have a big piece of the pie. If we believe Oklahoma has a slim chance at “Prospect B”, he’ll have a small portion of the pie. If we’re 100{90cbdbedcebe3734fdfdeb1f9843068779d1ec8d5ef30619baff100fe391d921} confident that Oklahoma will land “Prospect C” he’ll have all the pie.

Here is a screen shot of one — on the actual page you will find a brief description under each chart. Hovering over each section will display values or our percentages.

The charts will give us a quick and easy way of updating predictions as we receive the latest recruiting news. It will be updated as info becomes available so it could be daily in some cases or weekly in others.

To make it quicker, offense and defense will each have their own prediction pages found under the recruiting tab. We’ll be testing out this concept throughout the summer and fall. Check them out for yourself, and let us know what you think.
