HLackawanna Community College– A place where Oklahoma has found a haven the last two years. This year is no different when they identified Marcelias Sutton as a prospect early in the 2017 cycle that they were intrigued by. Sutton committed to Oklahoma on March 11th of 2016, and hasn’t looked back since. No other reported offers. Not a peep besides Oklahoma. Just how some do it.

Speed. Speed. Speed. The cornerstone of Marcelias Sutton’s game. I would not be surprised if he was a sub 4.4 40yd runner. I was not thoroughly impressed with his freshman highlights, but his sophomore highlights show some signs that the Sooners may have struck gold.

I mentioned speed, right? That is the major part of his game. However, Sutton has a unique bend to his running that allows him to miss arm tackles. This trait is what allows him to be such an explosive player. Something that really makes Sutton different from many scat backs the Sooners have recruited over the last few years.

Something else that showed improvement from his freshman to sophomore year is his physicality. You see him take on linebackers throughout his film. You see him unafraid to get his nose dirty and finish runs. This is a huge sign as I figured Sutton was going to be used more as a specialist kind of skill player. However, the more I watch, the more I see his potential as a running back.

One other thing to take notice of his film is that Sutton has added some good weight. His freshman year, it looked like he was pushing 180 pounds. Now? I definitely can see him being close to the 198 pounds that is being reported. A year in Coach Schmidt’s training program? We may be talking about a steal of the class.

As you can see, I am high on Marcelias Sutton. I honestly had not caught his Sophomore Film until I began to write this. I just do not see how he is kept off the field if he does all the right things over the next 8-9 months.
